Inigo Guevara is the managing director of Janes Strategic Services, leading a global, cross-functional team of consultants and subject matter experts in the international defense market, providing unwavering support to government and industry customers.
Inigo joined Janes in 2015; before that, he was a senior analyst for security and defense at CENTRA Technology, a Washington, D.C.-based company that supports the US and foreign governments in various intelligence capabilities.
Previously, Inigo was director of analysis at the Office of the National Security Council (STCSN), Office of the President of Mexico. There, Inigo advised and amplified defense market analysis, directed the selection of vital air and land platforms, and conceived the design of an offset-based procurement policy focusing on indirect offsets to strengthen the broader economy, specifically the blooming supply chain/components-centric aerospace industry. Prior to that, from 2004, Inigo served in a state-level law enforcement agency where he was head of statistical analysis, SSC in Queretaro, Mexico.
Inigo is an adjunct faculty member at Georgetown University, where he teaches SEST-6592 International Arms Trade, a graduate–level Master of Arts program in the Security Studies Program of the School of Foreign Service.
Beyond Jane’s and Georgetown, Inigo is also a Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank, and has collaborated closely with The Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute since 2016. Inigo is constantly sought by US and international defense education institutions to provide subject-matter lectures on the global defense market. In 2023, he was awarded the Interamerican Defense Board’s medal for his work supporting understanding of regional security issues.
Inigo’s academic prowess is evident in his Master’s in International Security from Georgetown University, a Bachelor’s in International Trade from the TEC de Monterrey, and his graduation from the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies (CHDS) Strategy and Defense Policy course.
He is the author of the book Latin American Fighters, a comprehensive history of fighter jets since 1949. It has been widely acclaimed for its insights into the evolution of military aviation in the region. In addition, he has published multiple defense publications focusing on the area, further demonstrating his expertise in the field. He also writes a bi-weekly column in the El Heraldo de Mexico titled Comando y Control, which provides a platform for his analysis and commentary on defense issues.
Inigo lives in the Washington-DC metro area with his wife and two sons.
